Kuusankosken Urheiluseura in english
Welcome to the Kuusankosken Urheiluseura website.

General info:
Our home town
Kuusankoski is located in the southeast part of Finland by the river Kymi. The city of Kuusankoski is the Finland's paper city because of the UPM-Kymmene's two paper mills that are running here. From the city of Kuusankoski is about 5 km to Kouvola, 50 km to Kotka and 130 km to Helsinki cities.

Kuusankosken Urheiluseura, shortly KuUS, was founded in 1915. KuUS is a general sporting club. Our club's sporting events are speed skating, conditioning, athletics and orienteering. There have been many other events during our club's history. The greatest athletes have been Olympic silver medallists Väinö Liikanen (1932 Lake Placid 50 km skiing), Arvo Askola (1936 Berlin 10 000 meters running), Erkki Kataja (1948 London pole vault) and Aulis Kallakorpi (1956 Cortina D'Ampezzo ski jumping). Nowadays orienteering is the strongest event.

In the year 2006 our orienteerers got one gold medal from the Area Championships. We have about 60 active orienteerers.

We have organized open competitions every year, in 2002 Nordic Meeting in trail-O and the FIN-5 orienteering week in 1996 with Kouvolan Rasti -72.

In 2007 we shall arrange:
